Quasar 2023 | Exploring the Art of Logo and Website Design

Welcome to the world of Quasar, A National Level 24 hour hackathon organized by our esteemed college (VPPCOE & VA). In this blog,I take you through the process of crafting a brand identity for the hackathon.

Overview of Quasar Hackathon

Quasar is an exciting 24-hour event organized by our college (VPPCOE&VA), bringing together talented individuals from across the nation. Quasar's main motive is to tackle important challenges in key sectors: Agriculture & Rural Development, Smart Education, Meditech/Biotech, and Smart City with the prize pool of 60,000/-.

The Design Process

Brainstorming: In our search for the perfect name for our hackathon, we went through a lot of different words from various languages like Latin and Sanskrit. We wanted a name that would capture the theme of space, so we focused on finding words related to it. Finally, we stumbled upon the word "Quasar" and instantly knew it was the right choice for our event.

The Word Quasar: Quasar (KWAY-zar) is a astronomical object or more precisely a quasi-stellar object which emits massive amountt s of electromagnetic radiation.

We had some specific design elements in mind that we wanted to include. We chose a bold and sharp font to represent strength and the cosmic nature of our theme, which is centered around space. We wanted the logo to be clean and memorable, so we opted for a minimalist approach. As for the colors, we considered deep yellows, blues, oranges, or other cosmic-inspired hues to give the logo a vibrant and captivating look.

The Technical Implementation

Let's discuss the technical aspects of Quasar. The construction of Quasar involves utilizing HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript techniques. Additionally, the custom cursor feature, which aligns with the space theme, was implemented using the Curzr library.

Components & Functionality

The Quasar play a crucial role as the registration portal for participants, allowing them to register for the hackathon through the provided Devfolio link. Moreover, it showcases various components that offer comprehensive details about the process and the entire event flow, presenting information categorized into different phases with four sectors. Once the hackathon concludes, the website also displays the results for all participants to view.

Conclusion

This way we successfully brought the hackathon to life in the digital space. The Quasar has been a inspiring journey for us as an organizing team, learning valuable lessons along the journey. The website we created became an essential platform for participants to register, access event information, and stay connected throughout the entire journey. The lively participation and unwavering enthusiasm from the participants made all our hard work and dedication truly meaningful.
