Logo Design Competition | ED Cell: Process to Winning
Our College, VPPCOE&VA, hosted a Logo Design Competition for the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) on November 19th, 2022. I took part in the event along with over 40 talented students It was a great opportunity to showcase my skills in design domain and contribute to ED Cell. Now, lets dive deeper into the process.
Conceptualization
During the initial phase, I explored to understand the branding and identity of the ED Cell. I identified the core values for the cell, which are Leadership, Teamwork, and Innovation. These three words formed the foundation of the cell's motto and served as the driving force behind the logo design.
To begin the logo design process, I first gathered inspiration and references that aligned with the core values and motto of the ED Cell. With these ideas in mind, I began sketching various logo concepts to explore different design possibilities. Once I had a range of sketches, i reviewed them and moved onto the next stage of the design process, creating a digital version of the logo using Figma.
Design & Iteration
After reviewing my initial sketches and selecting some designs, I imported them into Figma and started drawing the variations.After a few iterations, I began to focus on a draft that incorporated three persons and a bulb with a gear, aligning with the ED Cell's motto.
When it came to selecting the right colors for the ED Cell logo, I knew I wanted to stick to basic hues that would complement the brand's identity. Also, I carefully selected Poppins as the foundational font. Poppins, a sans-serif typeface, was chosen to convey a sense of reliability.
Further, to grasp the essence of the logo design, I incorporated it into different mockups. This helped me better visualize how the logo would appear and function in various contexts.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I am thrilled to share that I submitted my logo design brief to the event, and after a week, the results were announced. I am incredibly honored and excited to announce that my logo was selected as the first prize winner! It is a great achievement for me to have my logo chosen and adopted as the main logo for the ED Cell.
